Lamu Outreach Youth Agenda (LOYA) is a youth-led, community-based organization committed to building peaceful, inclusive, and resilient communities across Lamu County and Kenya’s coastal region. Established in 2020, LOYA was founded to address challenges such as social exclusion, youth unemployment, inter-community tensions, violent extremism, and environmental degradation through community-led development.
We believe that communities are best placed to drive their own transformation. By strengthening local leadership and empowering youth and women, we support communities to identify shared challenges, promote dialogue, and develop sustainable solutions. Our people-centered approach brings together community members, civil society, faith leaders, and government institutions to foster trust, cooperation, and social cohesion.
LOYA implements programmes in peacebuilding, youth and women’s empowerment, climate resilience, environmental conservation, and the prevention of violent extremism. We equip young people with leadership and livelihood skills while supporting women to participate in decision-making and community development. We also promote sustainable environmental practices that strengthen livelihoods and resilience.
Guided by the values of trust, inclusiveness, diversity, transparency, and sustainability, LOYA continues to serve as a trusted platform for dialogue, collaboration, and collective action, working toward communities where peace, opportunity, and resilience go hand in hand.
